Case Study – Efficiency Improvement and Cost Savings through Merger

Two large healthcare institutions decided to merge, driven by the need for cost savings and increased efficiency. Both institutions employed tens of thousands of people, and it was clear that an Identity Governance & Administration (IGA) system would play a crucial role in integrating their IT environments. The first phase of the IT environment included:

  • A common IGA system (Trusted ID)
  • A shared Active Directory (AD)
  • A new Electronic Patient Record (EPD)
  • MS 365 licenses

The merger presented several challenges, particularly because many healthcare providers worked part-time at both institutions, sometimes even as freelancers at one and employees at the other. This resulted in duplicate identities, which were detected within Trusted-ID and replaced with unique, new identities. A small number of untraceable duplicates were resolved in collaboration with HR and the end users themselves.

Trusted-ID then took care of populating the new AD, provisioning O365 accounts, and integrating the EHR. Other systems were then gradually connected to Trusted-ID, ensuring a smooth transition to the new merged environment.
