Note that this is true regardless of where the data is stored and whether it belongs to allies. <\/p>\n<p>For this, see the CLOUD Act (law enforcement) and FISA section 702 (intelligence agencies).<\/p>\n<p>Paragraph 2713, chapter 121, Title 18, United States Code:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cA provider of electronic communication service or remote computing service shall comply with the obligations of this chapter to preserve, backup, or disclose the contents of a wire or electronic communication and any record or other information pertaining to a customer or subscriber within such provider\u2019s possession, custody, or control, regardless of whether such communication, record, or other information is located within or outside of the United States\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>FISA Section 702 states essentially the same, but in more detail.
